What is the IECL Forum ?
The Forum aims to propose a forward-thinking analysis of international law and regulations to advance a fairer and more sustainable transition. Several roundtables will gather scientists, policy-makers, representatives from civil society and the private sector to discuss international energy law principles. Comparisons of different regional legislations will be carried out to identify best practices and foster cooperation among stakeholders. It will feature the progress of research in law across diverse regions.
What's in this 1st edition ?
For this first edition, the Forum will focus on the challenge related to Responsible mining and critical materials for the energy transition and for energy justice. It will explore 3 mains issues :
· State of play on Responsible mining
· What are the main challenges to integrate within the responsible mining framework?
· Implementation – What are the possible legal instruments for Just and Responsible mining ?
The Forum is organised by the European Research Platform on Energy & Climate Law, and is supported by the Academic Advisory Group of the International Bar Association's Section on Energy, environment, natural resources and infrastructure Law and the European Federation of Energy Law Associations (EFELA).
