Conférence “Designing CfDs for Nuclear New Build”Place : European Economic and Social Committee, Brussels
Le 1 juin 2026 de 09h30 à 13h00
The Nuclear Working Group of the European Research Platform on Energy and Climate Law, in partnership with Confrontations Europe, is pleased to invite you to its first seminar dedicated to the regulation and financing of new nuclear projects in the European Union, with a focus on the design of Contracts for Difference (CfDs).
As the European Union seeks to reconcile energy sovereignty, climate neutrality and security of supply, this seminar will bring together academics, public authorities and nuclear stakeholders to discuss the financing of new nuclear projects, in light of the European Commission’s recent guidance on two-way Contracts for Difference.
🔹 Roundtable 1
Discussion of the main issues surrounding CfD design, including the load-following capabilities of new nuclear power plants, reference price mechanisms, forward markets, and broader economic considerations.
🔹 Roundtable 2
Practical perspectives on ongoing nuclear projects across Europe, notably in France, Poland and Czechia, with representatives directly involved in the deployment of new nuclear capacity.
